Type "uncertain"

Hi all,

In Project ClaReNet we decided to work with the "uncertain" field which you can select within a coin entry under archives.
Personally i see a problem with the functionality of this field. If you select "uncertain" for some types which you linked before and than link another type afterwards, than all the field where you clicked "uncertain" become empty again.

This is problematic, because this action is also not documented in "latest changes" and so on. People that work later with my entries can easily reset my "uncertain" decisions and have no way to reconstruct my original entry.

Is there a possibilty to make the "uncertain" field more fixed? Another important aspect would be to make the field searchable. Right now i don't see it in the filter. This would help us a lot.

Are you talking about the type field (numisdata161) in Archive (coins)?

Normally you should be able to click the "?" checkbox for each type independently...

Maybe it could be a failure in specific browser version: What browser are you using? please can you send me; browse name, version and operating system.

All changes are register, include "uncertain" changes, you can see all changes in "Time machine" tool:

But it's true that you can not see "uncertain" state in the "latest changes" list, inside the inspector, because the space here is very, very small...

And I will review the filter to include the "uncertain" status.

Hi Alex, i use the latest installment of Firefox as Webbrowser and that is actually the problem, why my "uncertain" selections are kicket out, when linking a new type. With Google Chrome everything is fine and it doesn't happen.

Thanks for the fast answer. As for the filter, this would be nice, because as far as i see it, there is no way to actually look for it other than going in to a specific entry. When i do an export in an CSV table for example and include numisdata161, than it is also not displayed.

Hi Markus.

I check with Firefox and yes it fail when you click in the ? label, no in the check box, we update Dédalo to v5.9.1 to fix this error and add the "uncertainty" to filter:

Now, you can drag the uncertain component to do search with it. Try and tell me if all work nice...
And
I think that we will need to talk about the uncertain feature, maybe in the next numismatics Friday meeting?, I not very pleased with this solution... too much fixed and rigid maybe we need add more uncertain data for the links...

I have no news about this "Type Uncertinity", is it an update? I haven't it in my installation for now.
What is the point of it? Nor making the "fake types"?

This is something you could choose within the "numismatic objects" database when linking your object to a typ. When you are not 100 % sure than you can link one or several types and select the "uncertain" field. This is especially interesting for us because we have not one complete typology and because our coins are often finds which are barly recoqnizable. With the "uncertain" field i can make a suggestion and since in our project, we have AI-specialist working with Dédalo, it helps extremly to give him an idea which coins are worth looking in to in terms of an AI-classification attempt.

But i am not sure if it is in your installment. That is something Alex needs to answer.

You will need to update your Dédalo installation to v5.9.1 and the ontology with > 12-10-2022, to get the functionality.

Hello, I have a question regarding the export of the uncertain field. For example when I export a coin with four types, I don't see which of them are marked as uncertain. Is there a way to add this information to the export?

Well, yes you're right, it's not possible export the uncertain property of the linked Type. We need discourse more about the uncertainty in depth, we are not satisfied with the current solution, and it's not fully implemented. We can add it to the export, but we need a better definition, in the new V6 we are rebuilding all data frames and uncertainty will need a full review. In the meantime we will add the export functionality, it will be soon, I will back when it will ready.

Dear all

We publish new version v5.9.3 . This version has the ability to export the uncertain with the fields that have it marked.

Note: We do not added the possibility to add or remove (you can not choose uncertain fields from the list), it the field has uncertain, the export will always export it. In next versions we will change how data frames and uncertainty works...
