Video fragment URL parameters not working

Hi,

we are using the "fragment_from_index_locator" request to retrieve video fragments. It returns a URL with query parameters specifying the start and end seconds of the fragment.

Example URL:
https://masle.dedalo.lafoneria.com/dedalo/media//av/404/rsc35_rsc167_22.mp4?vbegin=23&vend=74

The vbegin and vend parameters don't seem to be working in our case, and the full video is returned instead of the expected fragment.

As a reference, we've had this functionality working correctly on a different site:
https://dedalo.coib.cat/dedalo/media//av/404/rsc35_rsc167_28.mp4?vbegin=257&vend=287
https://dedalo.coib.cat/dedalo/media//av/404/rsc35_rsc167_28.mp4?vbegin=124&vend=256

Are we missing something to get this working properly?

Hi!

You will need to install the Dédalo module for Apache to cut video en real time, you can follow the instructions here.

You can see the module code is here, and it is downloaded in every installation.

If you are using Ubuntu(or compatible) or Fedora(or compatible) you will find the module compiled, to be install easily, but if you are using other as OsX you will need to compile manually.

Hi, thank you. That worked and was easy to install.

We're encountering a problem that's related to this as well. Each Audiovisual element has its poster frame image, in the posterframe_url field, and this is working fine. But each fragment also has a posterframe_tag_url, with the same URL as the posterframe but with the fragment tag at the end. We assume this would be the first frame of the fragment, but even though the field has the URL, the file does not exist.

Example:
https://masle.dedalo.lafoneria.com/dedalo/media//av/posterframe/rsc35_rsc167_34.jpg
https://masle.dedalo.lafoneria.com/dedalo/media//av/posterframe/rsc35_rsc167_34_24.jpg

Is there something else we should do to have these images available as well?

Hi albert_b

There is only one poster frame per audiovisual (the fragments are not actual audiovisuals, they are temporary files created on the fly).
The poster-frame image can be created from the tool 'Posterframe' in the field 'Audiovisual'.

You can select any frame of the whole video by navigating with the time bar or with the jump buttons and create a new poster frame at anytime.

The URL of the image remains the same.

Therefore, you can use the same poster frame image for all fragments of the same video.

In your case:
https://masle.dedalo.lafoneria.com/dedalo/media/av/posterframe/rsc35_rsc167_34.jpg

Please note that posterframe_tag is no longer used and is deprecated.
