Dédalo update from 6.5.2 to 6.7.3

Hi all,

We just tried to update Dédalo with the helpful instructions from Jonas von Felten. We basically followed the same steps as explained in the second post in this thread: https://agora.dedalo.dev/d/250-manual-version-update-from-606-directly-to-672

The only thing we didn't do was register the tools, but that shouldn't have been necessary in our case, right?

We repeated the process twice, updating the ontology as a normal administrator and as root. Everything else was done as root, and after the update was successful, we are still on version 6.5.2.

Could it be that an extra step is necessary when making the big leap from this old version to the latest one? There was the issue with periods, where something changed, but we don't use them anyway.

Therefore, we would like to ask what the reason for this could be.

Hi Markus

To update the installation, you must log in as root. Administrator users can update the ontology, but cannot update the code or data.
You will need to enable maintenance mode [by following the steps explained here].(https://dedalo.dev/docs/management/maintenace_status/)

When Dédalo is in maintenance mode, and only in maintenance mode, you can proceed to update, now only root user can log in and the update options will be activated, then, you can do the update tasks explained here.

Select the Incremental option in the update panel (Clean is not necessary for minor updates and patches, only for major updates or when it is mandatory and you are notified to use it).

Remember the order:

Update the ontology
Update the code
Update the data
Register the tools (And, yes, you want update the tools! because any installation use the language tool or Time Machine tool, or upload images tool, etc. If you don't register the new tools, your installation would fail to use lots of the functionalities)
Update the ontology again

Hi Alex,

Thank you very much for your quick response. I think it was because we didn't run everything as root from the start. When we tried it as root the second time, we only updated the ontology and, since the version number hadn't changed there, we stopped continuing with the other parts. A little more patience and trial and error would probably have helped.

In any case, we are now on 6.7.4 and will hopefully be able to update it without help in the future.
