Rdf import?

Hello - we are hoping to move data from a Nomisma/Numishare catalogue (NUDS/XML, RDF and JSON) into a Dedalo installation. From the guidance it seems we can import data as .csv, but looking at the existing Dedalo numismatic catalogues (MIB, OCC) and some of the questions on here, I wanted to ask - is it possible also to import Nomisma/RDF or JSON into Dedalo directly? Hi Clare. I copied to @elena because she is using this tool a lot (maybe she can help you in the process).

Yes, of course, you can import RDF types directly into Dédalo in this way:

1.- In the type, insert the URL of the RDF into the URI field:

2.- Activate the RDF import tool:

3.- Choose the language to be used for the legends and designs... and press the "ok" button to run the import.

4.- Wait until the process will done:

5.- Done! the type will be ready to be used in Dédalo.

And we have a discussion about how Dédalo can handle the legends and designs imported this way, because the nomisma RDF has not a structure data for them and it's a headache. You can participate into the discussion here.

Happy new year! Sorry to once again ask questions -is it possible to do a batch rdf import (we have several thousand Nomisma records we need to move over and one at a time will take too long :-)). And/or is it possible to batch import via csv or another format? Many thanks!

No, Dédalo hasn't implemented a bulk import from RDF because, until now, current projects haven't required it. Instead, they demand the import specific information from OCRE, RPC, or other sources and publish their own data in Nomisma format.

Yes, Dédalo allows importing data in CSV format. You can refer to the documentation here and a video tutorial here for more information.

Note:Note: If this feature is commonly needed, it might be possible to implement it as a tool. The ontology map from Nomisma and Dédalo is complete, and the process works for one, so I believe it could be feasible. However, you may need a faster solution at this time. A script could be quicker than implementing it in a tool, but if the community requires this feature, it could be added to the TODO list. Any help here is greatly appreciated. :-)

Hi Alex - many thanks for this; in the end we found it easier to convert the rdf into csv so we could upload it in bulk! I will ask the numismatic community whether a bulk import rdf tool would be useful though. :-)
