Find context, Find category

Hi!

As some of us already spoke in Valencia, Portugal and Athens, we need to define the tld for the current find context thesaurus, it was defined with the cont TLD, but, it seems that it is not correct because it is not clear and contains two different meanings:

Find context
Find category

Therefore, the main idea is to split the current cont thesaurus into two different ones with new TLDs. I propose TLDs as more generic names, because finds or findspots in a more general point of view are immovables or archaeological sites. So:

tchicontext
tchicategory

Note: tchi = tangible cultural heritage immovable, it is the TLD used to define all levels of archeological sites as, Sites, Zones, UE, etc.

But it could be something as:

sitescontext
sitescategory

findcontext
findcategory

In DISCO, we need these informations not in tchi, but in hoard/set/complex (numisdata5) and in numismatic object (numisdata4).
For us, in many cases the tchi is just an address with many different definitions through time.
For us, a numisdata5 can be an assemblage of objects found at this address, Sometimes all objects are found with the same method, but not always. Sometimes all objects have the same context, but not always (e. g. excavation in a city: early modern coins from a settlement/house above a roman cementry with grave goods).
In numisdata4 we might include the informations for every single object.
E. g. one hoard, Ueken AG, coincidental finds 2015, then excavation 2015, then metal detectorist's survey 2023 - all coins of the same hoard. In the organised coin list we will mention these different find categories with every single coin.

So I would prefer
sitescontext
sitescategory
and
findcontext
findcategory

and these informations in all three sections, tchi, numisdata5 and numisdata4

We should keep in mind that the Dédalo locator is a general term, is just code, which should work under any kind of situation. For this reason the hierarchies 'Context' and 'Category' can be useful for describing not only sites (i.e., a medieval castle). Then I would suggest to create neutral/general locators like tchicontext and tchicategory.
After that code locators, of course, is posible to customise the hierarchy name that is displayed in the tree (find context, site category...) after specific project requirements.

After the last changes, there are a couple of thesauri and components to describe the find context and the find category of coin and hoards / complexes: tchicontext and tchicategory
Beside this, there are also a field and a theasuri to describe the deposition type After the nomisma.org ontology this is to describe:
The circumstances under which an object or group of objects came to be deposited and part of the archaeological record, for example as a hoard, votive deposit or chance loss.
Finally there are a field and a list to describe the discovery type. After the nomisma.org ontology this is to describe::
The circumstances under which an object or group of objects came to be discovered, for example as a chance stray find or a controlled excavation.
If we all agree maybe we should remove a fifth field/list, discovery method, which seems very close to discovery type.

Thanks Manuel, as I needed this information but didn't know where to register at the thesaurus, in deposition type, actually, I used these:

Context category [depositiontype1_4]
- Primary context
- Secondary context
- Descontextualized
  I know now this is a mistake, but I need this information and it would be terrible if I lose it...

On the contrary, in the numismatic object, I do have deposition type, that I can not see it in my thesaurus tree, with this options:

Foundation deposit
Funerary deposit
Votive deposit
Chance loss
Single find
Hoard

Besides, I don't see in my thesaurus the "discovery method", the closest thing I have is, in numismatic objetc, and named as "find type":

Chance stray find
Excavation
Museum
Prospection
Seizure
Subacuatic
Unknown
