28th June Memory Meeting recap @Mariajobrador @Alex @Arancha
We welcomed Cesar from the Instituto Navarro de Memoria.
We give an overview of the last issues we have discussed
Maps:
We showed the still in development new feature of maps that are exploring in Universidad de Cadiz.
Toponimy:
Non-standardized municipality for unofficial toponymy: it could be added an "unofficial toponymy" thesaurus for those cases of standarised toponymy is not a solution. It may be useful.
Graphos and biographical milestones:
We showed the new way we are working on to visualise relationships between persons under study and entities.
We looked at the biographical milestones and explained that we were trying to use them to test its functionality in order to improve it. We also warn about the risk that the milestones could not be used because they are perceived as something that adds more work (double the information in two different places) with no results. If we have to add similar information to projects and biographical milestones, this feature has the risk of being underused.
As long as we were explaining these two features, we noticed that both have a lot in common, and we agreed that maybe the biographical milestones are in fact the relations between people or people-entities. We agreed to explore this possibility more deeply to sort out the risk explained above. We also agreed that it would be interesting if “Biographical milestones” was able to find all the information that has a chronological reference, even if it is in other places.
