In last the Memory Friday meeting from 26th september 2025 we mainly discussed about relationship between people as proposed in this message and the creation of Events:
People and their interpersonal relationships: After considering the creation of groups and events to show the relationships between people, we reached the following agreement:
In the person record a "family" group will be created, and the existing structured fields will be transferred there. Text fields that are not structured will remain as they are. The person and the type of relationship between them will be linked, without any temporal tag.
It is agreed to keep the Number of Children field.
Start creating “events”: These events will capture gatherings of people (and entities) at a specific moment. They will therefore have a temporal range.
In Events:
- links to people and entities involved in the event will be provided.
- A description field will be included
- Observations field also be provided.
- Each event has to have a specific date range.
- Location will be available
- bibliographic references will be also in the record.
It was found that the events will probably have to be a thesaurus, both in terms of hierarchy and the information it contains. However, no firm conclusion was reached, as it was also noted that the issue of events represents a major shift and will require repeated consensus-building to reach agreements.
